The Relais takes its name from the splendid piazza it overlooks: Piazza Signoria, the emblem of Florentine art and architecture, the civil and political core of the city since the Middle Ages.

This unique location enables guests to take in the treasures of the historic city in a naturally relaxed way.
All of the major artistic and cultural attractions are within easy walking distance: in addition to the piazza itself, Palazzo Vecchio (1), Ponte Vecchio (2) and the Uffizi Gallery (3) are just 50 metres away, the Cathedral (4) and the Bell tower by Giotto (5) about 200 metres, the Medici Chapels in the San Lorenzo (6) area, the Bargello Museum (7) and the wonderful Basilica of Santa Croce (8) about 500 metres; approx. 1000 metres to reach the Gallery of the Academy (9), the Pitti Palace (10), the church of Santo Spirito (11) or the Boboli Gardens (12) just across the Arno river.

A stay at the Relais also offers a special fringe benefit: exceptional front row seating for the shows and events staged in Piazza Signoria. Among them, the traditional Sbandieratori, the groups of banner jugglers, whose exhibitions revive the invigorating atmosphere of Florence in the sixteenth century. In fact, the roots of such exhibitions do really stem from the Middle Ages when they represented events of war or festivities.

The exceptional accessibility of the artistic heritage is well-matched by the facilitations that make the Relais a modern structure, well-suited for business tourism. Visitors who come to Florence for business will find the major centres, such as the Congress Centre, only 3 km away. There is also a convenient network of comfortable public transport, with buses only 100 metres away and taxis on call in 3 minutes in front of the Relais, not to mention the Santa Maria Novella train station just a 15 minute walk away.
